The Extent of Existence of the Critical Success Factors for the Implementation of Information Systems Projects in Yemeni Private Universities

Abstract

Information Systems (IS) play an important role in managing business processes. Implementation of these systems is a difficult task, and if not implemented correctly, may use up many of resources. However, the continued high failure rates of IS projects remain a concern. In recent years, many Yemeni private universities have implemented IS. With the rapid development of IS applications and practices to achieve the functional tasks for universities, appropriate IS have become essential to universities’ success. Some researches have been conducted regarding implementation of IS in the Yemeni private universities. The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the existing literature review on Critical Success Factors (CSF) for implementation of IS projects and attempts to identify the CSF for successful implementation of IS projects in Yemeni private universities. CSF were studied and extracted from the literature review and then analyzed and categorized to create the CSF Framework. Then assess to which extent degree these factors are existed in these Yemeni private universities. The researcher used quantitative approach by questionnaire for data collection. The findings revealed that the factors are existed in an acceptable manner and the Yemeni private universities need to pay more attention to these factors when they decide to implement IS projects.
