خلاصة
Background: Uncontrolled bleeding can cause morbidity and complications during dental surgical procedures. Therefore, adequate knowledge of the management of such situations is essential when they occur. This study aimed to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the management of uncontrolled bleeding during dental surgical procedures among final-year dental students and general dentists in Sana'a city. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire-based cross-sectional study was conducted among final-year dental students and general dentists in Sana'a city. A structured, self-administered, closed-ended questionnaire was designed to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of four parts and included 19 questions related to knowledge, attitudes, and practices in the management of uncontrolled bleeding. Out of 391 distributed questionnaires, 334 were included in the final analysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. Results: A total of 334 participants aged 22 years and above were included in the study. Most participants, 93.2%, were aware of some medical conditions associated with uncontrolled bleeding in dental surgical procedures, while the remaining participants were either unaware or unsure. In addition, 95.8% of participants agreed that medical history plays an important role in dental surgical procedures, while the remaining participants disagreed. Conclusion: Most participants were aware of the causes of uncontrolled bleeding. However, there remains a need for further guidance on the management of uncontrolled bleeding, particularly in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy, where management is still not fully understood despite the availability of guidelines.
