Performance Comparisons on Online Plagiarism Detection Software in Arabic Theses

Abstract

Plagiarism is an issue that has become threatens to the quality and reputation of education as well as the intellectual property. Many software have been developed to detect this behavior. However, most of them were designed and measured their ability in extracting the rate of plagiarism in English free text. Measuring these online software efficiency in Arabic language has not been conducted yet. This paper aims to measure online plagiarism checkers efficiency in detecting plagiarism in Arabic language. Performance comparisons were on the best online plagiarism checkers to investigate the most accurate for Arabic language. Experiments showed that the online plagiarism checker performance and decision are affected by the different plagiarism patterns used. Also not all plagiarism�s patterns are detected by the best online plagiarism checkers. In order to get more accurate results in Arabic text plagiarism, the paper recommends to enhance the algorithms of the online plagiarism checkers.
