Strategic Information System Planning: A Review

Abstract

This paper aims to make a review of the strategic planning of information systems, its sections, and uses in the public and private sectors, as well as seeking to raise awareness of the importance of strategic planning for information systems for organizations and their alignment with the business strategy of a public or private institution. The strategic planning of information systems has been classified in this paper into five sections, in which we talked about the strategic planning of information systems and its stages in the first section, as well as the importance of strategic planning for information systems in the second section, and we touched upon some of the requirements of strategic planning for information systems in the third section. In the fourth section, the challenges facing the strategic planning of information systems and some of the solutions through which the challenges were addressed were mentioned. In the fifth and final section, we mentioned the use of strategic planning for information systems in governmental and private institutions as well as religious and health institutions. Through research and review of previous studies, it was found that there are other challenges facing the strategic planning of information systems, including those organizations and institutions that face due to wars and interruptions in supplies of equipment, cadres, and others. as the challenges that organizations and institutions face because of governments that do not encourage or support organizations in implementing strategic planning for information systems, whether they are public or private institutions.
