Two New [1-(2-Hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-Metal] complex [(Secnidazole-Metal) complex] have been synthesized by reacting Secnidazole with Zr(IV) and Pt(II) salts. The products were characterized by elemental (CHN) analysis, FTIR, electronic spectra,1H NMR spectra. The two complexes were investigated for their antibacterial activities against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and were also screened for their in vitro anticancer potential using HeLa and PC3 cells. The complexes were tested for antimicrobial activity and proved to be non-active against S-aureus, p.aeruginosa and E-coli, However the secnidazole-Pt(II) complex showed a higher cytotoxic activity than secnidazole-Zr(IV) complex towards Hela cellsen_US
